Pablo Bereciartua
Pablo Bereciartua is a prominent Argentine engineer and a graduate of the National University of La Plata, where he cultivated his passion for engineering and water resource management. His academic background includes postgraduate studies at internationally renowned institutions such as IHE Delft in the Netherlands, as well as the University of California, Berkeley, and Yale University in the United States. With extensive experience in the fields of infrastructure and the environment, Bereciartua has held significant roles in global organizations, serving on the global board of the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and the advisory board of the European Institute of Innovation & Technology’s Climate-KIC. As an academic, he has made his mark as a professor at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and as the former Dean of the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology (ITBA), sharing his expertise and knowledge with new generations of engineers. Throughout his career, Bereciartua has received international recognition as a Fulbright Scholar, Eisenhower Fellow, IIASA Fellow, and Yale World Fellow—honors that reflect his commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering global collaboration in infrastructure and environmental sectors. His outstanding work has been recognized with several awards, including the Engineer Antonio Marin Award (2009) and the Engineer Enrique Butty Award (2017)—both conferred by the National Academy of Engineering—in acknowledgment of his exceptional contributions to infrastructure development and management. Currently, Bereciartua serves as the Minister of Infrastructure for the City of Buenos Aires, leading an administration focused on sustainable development, energy efficiency, and resilience in the face of environmental and urban challenges. He has previously held key national-level positions, including National Secretary of Infrastructure and Water Policy, National Undersecretary of Water Resources, and Director of Infrastructure for the City of Buenos Aires, thereby solidifying his reputation.
